Golzar is the first book in the trilogy, The Voyage's Envoys.It is based on my grandmother's life, her one love and her many complaints, as I experienced them growing up. She was a storyteller, but I thought she was just a liar. She was an illiterate writer, and I didn't understand what that really meant until I came to America with almost no English. She struggled to reconcile her passion for her husband with her traditional sense of decency and feminine modesty, to be wildly active yet passively innocent, and found her own magical solution. She was strong and acerbic, and could end an argument with a few well-chosen words. As my father used to say: “This woman, she can turn a windmill with a single silent fart!”
