A jewelry box  with the technique of  Superior quality Khatamkari (Marquetry).
 The "khatam" box is decorated with geometric star-shaped patterns, made with thin wooden sticks. This marquetry technique is known in the West as "block marquetry".

 Khatam was very popular under the Safavid dynasty, between the 16th and 18th centuries, and was perfected under the Zand (18th century).
