Persian jewelry box in the style of the Qajar period, in hardwood, miniature pattern "Rose and Nightingale" in the Qajar style of Shiraz.
The reason " Rose and Nightingale », Also designated by the more general term of Flower and Bird ( Gol-o Morgh ), is one of the most significant elements of the Iranian decorative tradition. Traces of this motif are discernible in the plasterwork of the Sassanid palaces. The bas-reliefs as well as the gold and silver dishes from this period show similar patterns, but in the Sassanid style, the floral theme tends to be replaced by a tree which represents the tree of life. And as regards the bird, it is, preferably, mythical birds, but we also have ducks or more generally birds related to water.
