Henry Corbin (1903-1978), who radically renewed Islamic studies, in particular Iranian and mystical studies, is a multifaceted thinker and still too little known. First translator in France of Heidegger, he drew from the sources of "prophetic philosophy" a rich and profound thought which deserves its place alongside the greatest systems. Daryush Shayegan, himself Iranian and who was his pupil, delivers here the first complete synthesis of his work. Metaphysics of the imagination, prophecy and initiation, Shî'ism, Ismailism, Avicenna, Mollâ Sadrâ, Sohrawardî, angelology, theophany, religion of love ... so many themes that draw a spiritual landscape full of promises for contemporary reflection and where a real dialogue between West and East can begin.
